Drivers (A Pain in the Ass)

Drivers are a pain in the ass. Each USB port needs them
installed seperately, and it needs to be done twice- once
for regular mode, and once for flashing mode.

You could install them on each port all at one
time, but I just do them as needed. First, head to my
downloads page
and acquire your mobile handset drivers.
I use 6.2.0 for no reason other than they were the first
working ones I found. Also grab "v2.9 (raw driver files)".
Extract the files from their archives.

Next, install your 6.2.0 (or whatever version you're using)
drivers via the .EXE file. You should probablky reboot after
this step, but I've never had an issue from not doing it.

Plug in your RAZR. Windows should display a popup in the
corner of the screen saying it's finding drivers. Ignore this-
it will fail.

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialogue. Type
"devmgmt.msc" (without quotes) and hit enter to open the
device manager. Find your phone in the list of devices. It
may be listed as an unknown device, but since we installed the
P2K drivers earlier, it should be listed under either "Modems"
or "COM Ports". Right click it and select "Update driver
software..." if on Vista or "Update Driver..." if on XP.

From the wizard that opens, select either "Browse my
computer for driver software" (Vista) or "No, not this time"
and then "Next" (XP). Browse to the folder you extracted your
P2K 2.9 drivers to within the wizard. Make sure "Include this
location in the search:" is checked before hitting "Next", if on XP.

From here, it should automatically detect the right driver
and install it by itself. Reboot your computer if you feel it
is needed or if you have issues past this point.

Any time your RAZR enters a mode the computer hasn't seen
before (ie. flashing mode), or any time you plug the phone into
a new USB port, you will have to repeat this process.
